Argentina officializes $70,000 social security bonus for September

The Argentine government has officialized an extraordinary social security bonus of up to $70,000 for September 2026, as established by Decree 824/2026. The benefit applies to contributory beneficiaries, holders of the Universal Pension for the Elderly (PUAM), and various non-contributory pensions managed by ANSES.

Recipients earning the minimum pension or less will receive the full $70,000 bonus. For those earning above the minimum, the bonus will be applied proportionally to ensure their total income does not exceed the sum of the minimum pension plus $70,000. The bonus is non-remunerative, meaning it is not subject to deductions and will not be used for other social security calculations.

In addition to the bonus, monthly pensions will see an update of approximately 2.1%, reflecting the inflation rate from July. This adjustment will raise the minimum pension from $419,775.93 to approximately $428,591.22. For those receiving the minimum pension plus the full bonus, the total gross payment in September will reach approximately $498,591.22.
