ANSES outlines unemployment benefit requirements in Argentina

The National Social Security Administration (ANSES) has detailed the requirements and payment structures for unemployment benefits in Argentina. The assistance is designed for private-sector workers who lose their jobs due to reasons beyond their control, such as dismissal without cause, contract expiration, or employer bankruptcy.

The number of monthly installments a beneficiary receives depends on their contribution history over the previous three years. Permanent workers with 6 to 11 months of contributions receive 2 installments, while those with more than 36 months receive 12. Additionally, workers aged 45 or older automatically receive six extra installments.

Requirements vary by employment type: permanent workers need at least six months of contributions within the last three years, while seasonal or temporary workers must have worked more than 90 days in the last year. Construction workers must demonstrate at least eight months of registered work within the previous two years. The benefit amount is calculated based on previous remuneration, with legal limits set between 50% of the minimum wage and 100% of the salary floor.
