Anshan, China police arrest 103 youths in street‑racing crackdown
In the early hours of July 31, police in Anshan, Liaoning Province, deployed roughly 240 officers to surround Victory Square and nearby streets after a series of nighttime “street‑racing” (炸街) events. Hundreds of teenagers, many wearing masks and brandishing toy guns, were riding illegally modified motorcycles and cars, creating loud noise and public disorder.
The operation resulted in the detention of 103 suspects, all identified as minors, and the seizure of 61 vehicles, most of which were unregistered and heavily modified. Authorities said they will keep a high‑pressure stance, targeting both the racers and the sources of illegal vehicle modifications.
