ANSPI to host national congress on island healthcare innovation
The National Association of Health Services for Small Islands (ANSPI) will hold its XXIII National Congress at Isola del Giglio from October 2 to 4, 2026. The event, titled ‘Small islands and the One Health approach: From territorial fragility to a circular health model’, aims to transform small islands into innovation laboratories for healthcare.
The congress will focus on integrating healthcare assistance, prevention, environmental protection, and technological innovation. Key topics include telemedicine, artificial intelligence, and the ‘One Health’ approach, which emphasizes the interdependence between human, animal, and ecosystem health. The discussions are intended to produce a conference statement to guide future policy and service models tailored to the specific challenges of island territories, such as seasonal population fluctuations and distance from medical services.
