Antakya rent dispute leads to violent fight with nail-studded clubs

A dispute over rent payments escalated into a violent confrontation involving nail-studded clubs in the Antakya district of Hatay. The incident occurred in the Saraykent neighborhood near the bus station among local tradesmen operating container-based businesses established after the earthquake.

Tradesman Hikmet Karaoğlan reported that the conflict began when he refused a rent increase from 5,000 TL to 15,000 TL. Karaoğlan also alleged that while he had been paying rent for the site for three years, authorities later identified the location as a green zone rather than private property.

The fight, which was captured on security cameras, resulted in injuries to Karaoğlan and his nephew. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment. Following the altercation, all parties involved have filed formal complaints against one another.
