Antalya Bus Terminal Seizes 700 Illegally Transported Poultry Chicks

Antalya municipal police and security officers inspected the city’s intercity bus terminal and discovered roughly 700 turkey and chicken chicks packed in boxes that had been moved illegally from Bursa. The transport violated Turkish veterinary, plant health, food and feed regulations, prompting authorities to fine the bus operator and confiscate the birds. The district Agriculture and Forestry Directorate was notified because the chicks’ origin was unclear and they could pose a risk of avian influenza.

Terminal police chief Mustafa Kaya said, “During our morning inspection we found turkey and chicken chicks inside the crates. We immediately informed the Agriculture and Forestry Directorate.” The incident underscores continued checks aimed at protecting public health and food safety.
