Antalya Metropolitan Municipality has expanded its firefighting capabilities by adding 24 new vehicles to its fleet, valued at 14 million Euro. The new equipment, funded through a World Bank loan, includes six 42-meter ladder trucks, three 28-meter ladder trucks, and 15 multi-purpose vehicles.

During the Firefighters' Week celebrations, Deputy Mayor Büşra Özdemir noted that these vehicles were already deployed to combat a forest fire in Aksu before they had even received official license plates or registration. This move aims to strengthen the city's response to forest fires, as Antalya contains some of Turkey's largest forested areas.

The municipality plans to further increase its fleet to 226 vehicles by the end of the year. This expansion will be supported by a 23 million Euro loan from the Council of Europe Development Bank. Additionally, the municipality reported that it has added 325 firefighters to its personnel since 2019.

Separately, in Kayseri, Mayor Memduh Büyükkılıç met with local firefighting staff to commemorate Firefighters' Week, praising their essential role in responding to fires, floods, and earthquakes.
