Antalya farmer grows 96-centimeter pumpkin in İbradı

In the İbradı district of Antalya, farmer Şendur Özdoğru has drawn significant local attention after a trial planting of pumpkin seeds yielded unusually large results. One of the pumpkins grown from his five plants has reached 96 centimeters in length.

Özdoğru, who spends winters in Manavgat and summers in the Ürünlü neighborhood of İbradı, stated that the seeds were provided by a friend. From the five plants, he has harvested a total of 14 pumpkins. He noted that the pumpkins are still growing and expressed a goal of reaching 1.5 meters with the largest specimen.

Beyond their size, the pumpkins are being used for food, including stews and fried dishes, rather than just as ornamental items. The unusual growth has attracted curious neighbors who visit the garden to take photographs. Özdoğru plans to collect seeds from these plants to share with local villagers and intends to expand his planting next year.
