Antalya hosts workshop for green transition and sustainable agriculture

Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and Finike Municipality organized the ‘Green Transition Common Sense Workshop 2’ in Finike. The event is part of the ‘Gov4GreenMed – Inclusive Governance Models for a Greener Transition in the Mediterranean’ project, which is supported by the European Union’s Mediterranean Basin Program.

The workshop focused on creating regional participatory governance models for municipal solid waste and food waste policies. Participants discussed methods to protect Antalya’s nature and fertile agricultural lands through good farming practices to ensure they are preserved for future generations.

Key topics included the ‘Eco-Friendly Farmer Card Project,’ which aims to collect and repurpose agricultural pesticide packaging and waste. Presentations and training sessions also covered biological and biotechnic pest control methods and best practices for soil improvers. Lokman Atasoy, Advisor to the Mayor of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, emphasized the importance of protecting the region's fertile soil and developing sustainable waste management models to support local production and reduce costs for farmers.
