Turkish municipalities launch major water and infrastructure projects

Various Turkish municipalities are implementing large-scale infrastructure projects to address water scarcity, drought, and sanitation needs.

In Antalya, the ASAT General Directorate is investing over 1.5 billion TL in the Kaş Kalkan Çayköy Drinking Water Project. This initiative includes a 5,000-ton water reservoir and six boreholes to secure the region's water supply for approximately 50 years. Additionally, the Kaş Kınık Wholesale Market Complex is 80% complete, with a total investment exceeding 4 billion TL.

In İzmir, the metropolitan municipality has launched a 30 million TL investment in prepaid ultrasonic water meters for agricultural irrigation. The project aims to prevent wasteful irrigation practices and achieve water savings of 30-35% across 21,746 decares of farmland in nine districts.

In Trabzon, the TİSKİ General Directorate is continuing construction on an advanced biological wastewater treatment plant in Düzköy. The project, valued at approximately 213 million TL, is designed to serve seven neighborhoods with a daily capacity of 1,800 cubic meters.

In Ardahan, the Göle Municipality has initiated drilling works to find new water sources to provide a long-term solution to the district's drinking water shortages. Meanwhile, in Istanbul, İSKİ reported that dam occupancy levels have declined to 39.97% due to summer heat and increased consumption, with the Pabuçdere Dam reaching a low of 6.61%.
