Antalya man climbs tree to protest bank debts
In Antalya, a man identified as Yusuf B. climbed a 10-meter pine tree in Yavuz Özcan Park to protest his financial situation. The individual claimed to have significant bank debts and demanded that his credit cards be closed and his debts erased.
Emergency services, including police, firefighters, and medical teams, were dispatched to the Deniz neighborhood following reports from citizens. The Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department set up a safety mattress beneath the tree as a precaution.
After initial attempts by patrol officers failed to convince him to descend, a police negotiator was called to the scene. The standoff lasted approximately 1.5 hours. The man eventually agreed to speak with a negotiator via a fire department vehicle basket. After receiving water to combat the heat, he was successfully persuaded to come down. He was subsequently taken to a police station for processing.
