Antalya Metropolitan Municipality expands funeral service infrastructure

Antalya Metropolitan Municipality is modernizing its funeral services by establishing a network of new morgue and washing facilities across various districts. The most recent addition is the service building in Elmalı, which has officially opened for use.

The Elmalı facility includes two separate washing rooms for men and women, six morgue units, a waiting room, and storage areas. This infrastructure aims to improve hygiene standards and provide more efficient, localized services so that citizens do not have to rely solely on central facilities.

This project follows similar implementations in several other districts, including Akseki, Korkuteli, Kumluca, Kaş, Döşemealtı, Gazipaşa, Finike, Demre, and Serik. Erkan Sel, Manager of the Cemeteries Branch, stated that the goal is to provide services independently of the city center and to address capacity issues by expanding existing cemetery areas, such as the Kurşunlu cemetery.
