Antalya narcotics officials arrested over bribery and evidence tampering allegations
An investigation led by the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has resulted in the arrest of six individuals, including the current Narcotics Branch Manager, Ersin D. E., and former manager Okan U.
Evidence, including WhatsApp messages and audio recordings from Okan U.’s tenure between February 2023 and September 2026, suggests a bribery scheme involving lawyers. Allegations indicate that suspects would place individuals under police surveillance and then demand money to end the surveillance and close drug-related files. In one instance, a lawyer reportedly discussed collecting payments to ensure physical surveillance would end.
Furthermore, the investigation includes allegations that officials attempted to erase fingerprints from evidence to protect certain suspects.
