Antalya opens 20 Chinese-funded drinking water stations
As part of the Blue Mediterranean Initiative, 20 new drinking water stations have been opened in Antalya, Turkey, with financing provided by the Chinese Embassy in Ankara. The opening ceremony took place at Düden Park in the Muratpaşa district and was attended by Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin and the Chinese Ambassador to Ankara, Jiang Xuebin.
Governor Şahin stated that the initiative is an action plan designed to protect the sea by reducing pollution at its source. The project aims to raise public awareness regarding the reduction of single-use plastic bottles by reviving the culture of using water fountains and dispensers. With the addition of these 20 stations, the total number of drinking water stations in the city center has reached 55.
