Antalya sea turtle conservation efforts conclude seasonal monitoring

Sea turtle conservation efforts in Antalya, Turkey, have reached the end of their seasonal monitoring. In Çıralı, the Ulupınar Çevre Koruma Geliştirme ve İşletme Kooperatifi and the Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks concluded their 2026 studies after identifying 117 nests. From 7,536 eggs, 3,458 live hatchlings successfully reached the sea.

In the Belek region, the Ecological Research Association (EKAD) reported a significant seasonal outcome. Over the course of the nesting season, 2,600 nests were recorded along the 30-kilometer coastline, resulting in more than 100,000 hatchlings reaching the sea. This project, which has been active for 32 years, has now facilitated the release of over 1.5 million sea turtles in the area.
