Antalya stakeholders meet to address plastic waste management

Stakeholders in Antalya held a coordination meeting to address plastic waste management, organized by the Zero Waste Foundation under the auspices of the Antalya Governorship. The meeting brought together representatives from public institutions, municipalities, universities, industry, and civil society to discuss reducing plastic at the source, improving recycling infrastructure, and preventing waste from reaching the Mediterranean Sea.

Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin noted that plastic pollution in the Mediterranean is a widespread issue that negatively impacts tourism. The discussions in Antalya serve as a preparatory step for the Turkey Plastic Waste Workshop, scheduled to take place in Istanbul from August 31 to September 1. Samed Ağırbaş, President of the Zero Waste Foundation, emphasized that the focus is not only on collecting existing waste but also on reducing unnecessary plastic use and promoting eco-friendly alternatives.
