Antalya woman survives knife attack by ex‑partner

On 21 June 2026 in the Gazipaşa district of Antalya, 32‑year‑old Özge Çelik was stabbed multiple times by her former boyfriend, O. K., who had been released on temporary leave from a prison in Samsun. The victim reported that the knife broke on her back during the assault, yet the attacker continued the assault with the broken blade. Çelik called for help via the KADES emergency app, and bystanders intervened before police arrived. She was taken to hospital with injuries to her head, back and other body parts, including a torn muscle in her left arm.

Çelik had previously filed several complaints against O. K. for threats, harassment and physical abuse, obtaining six restraining orders before the incident. After the attack, police apprehended O. K. and returned him to custody. Her lawyer described the act as attempted homicide and highlighted failures in notifying the victim about the suspect’s prison‑leave status.
