Antamina drives agricultural projects in Valle Fortaleza
Compañía Minera Antamina is implementing several productive and sustainable development projects in the Valle Fortaleza region of Ancash, Peru. These initiatives focus on strengthening agricultural and livestock activities through improved water management and infrastructure.
Key developments include the inauguration of a trout farming facility in Mayorarca by the ‘Señor de los Milagros’ Family Fish Association, which features a water supply channel and three breeding ponds to benefit 13 families. In Chiquiahuanca, construction has begun on a filtration gallery with an investment exceeding S/ 1.5 million, aimed at irrigating 30 hectares for 20 users. Additionally, a 2.4-kilometer water conduction project is underway in the Anca sector to irrigate 22 hectares, benefiting 55 families.
To support livestock, vaccination campaigns against symptomatic anthrax were conducted in Huambo and Cajacay, protecting 1,956 cattle belonging to 92 producers. These efforts are part of a multi-stakeholder approach involving local authorities and community leaders to enhance economic opportunities and food security in the valley.
