Anteater rescued with severe burns following forest fire in Goiás

A giant anteater is in critical condition after being injured in a forest fire in Porangatu, located in northern Goiás, Brazil. The animal was rescued with severe burns on all four paws and is suffering from extreme dehydration.

Technical teams from the Municipal Secretariat of the Environment (Semma) and veterinarians from the local Animal Welfare Center provided emergency care, including fluid therapy and oxygen therapy. The animal remains in delicate condition, and officials are monitoring its vital signs to determine when it will be stable enough for a 420-kilometer transfer to a specialized facility in Goiânia. Once there, it is expected to be sent to the Center for the Triage of Wild Animals (Cetas) for specialized treatment and rehabilitation.
