Anthony Albanese hits record low approval rating
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has reached his lowest approval rating since taking office, according to the latest Essential poll. The survey of over 1,000 voters shows 35 per cent approval and 56 per cent disapproval.
The Labor Party’s national primary vote fell five percentage points in the last month to 26 per cent. Meanwhile, the Coalition’s primary vote rose to 26 per cent, up from 22 per cent. Pauline Hanson’s One Nation also saw a decline, with its primary vote dropping to 23 per cent.
Analysts suggest the shift reflects voter reactions to ongoing debates regarding migration and net overseas migration numbers. Additionally, 59 per cent of voters believe the nation is on the wrong track, citing concerns over the cost of living, global uncertainty, and the potential impact of artificial intelligence on employment.
