Anthony Albanese Swag on the Beat HECS debt social media outreach Australian politics

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has appeared in a social media comedy sketch with the Melbourne-based duo Swag on the Beat. The video, featuring Jack Say and Isaac Gibbons, depicts Albanese as an overprotective father meeting his fictional daughter’s boyfriend.

In the sketch, Albanese jokingly threatens the character that if he breaks her heart, the Prime Minister can “reinstate your HECS debt.” The clip is part of an ongoing effort to engage younger voters through digital platforms.

The appearance follows previous controversy regarding Albanese’s participation in a satirical podcast earlier this year. The Prime Minister’s outreach via social media aims to communicate government values and connect with a broader demographic of Australians online.
