Anthony Bourdain biopic 'Tony' set for Czech release in September 2026

The film "Tony," a biopic produced by A24, dramatizes a formative summer in the 1970s when a young Anthony Bourdain worked in a chaotic seafood restaurant, an experience that set him on the path to becoming a celebrated chef, writer and traveler. Antonio Banderas portrays Ciro, the seasoned chef who mentors the teenage Bourdain. The movie will open in Czech cinemas on 10 September 2026, distributed locally by Continental Film.

In the United States, the project has sparked discussion among Bourdain’s fans and his brother Chris Bourdain, who both wonder whether the late chef would have approved of the portrayal. Chris, who appeared with Anthony on an episode of "No Reservations," has spoken about living in his brother’s shadow and about the upcoming film’s depiction of their shared past.
