Anthony Davis discusses Lakers requests and Wizards contract uncertainty

Anthony Davis has reflected on his tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers, noting that he had previously requested the team acquire a traditional center to play alongside him. Davis stated that he felt his physical conditioning was not ideal while playing at a high weight to compete against players like Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic, and he felt the Lakers' front office did not heed his requests for additional frontcourt depth.

Now with the Washington Wizards, Davis will have access to a rotation that includes Deandre Ayton and Alex Sarr. However, his long-term future in Washington remains uncertain. Despite being eligible for a contract extension, reports suggest the Wizards are unlikely to offer a maximum deal due to his injury history, age, and the team's current developmental stage around top pick AJ Dybantsa.

Davis, 33, joined the Wizards following a trade from the Dallas Mavericks in February, though a hand injury prevented him from appearing in any games for Washington last season. His agent, Rich Paul, is expected to play a significant role in navigating his upcoming contract decisions.
