Anthony Davis to decide future with Washington Wizards after current season

Anthony Davis has announced that he will decide whether to remain with the Washington Wizards following the conclusion of the 2026-27 NBA season. Speaking at media day on Monday, the 33-year-old center stated he intends to perform at a high level throughout the season before engaging in further contract discussions with the front office.

Davis, who was acquired from the Dallas Mavericks in February, holds a player option for the 2027-28 campaign. His decision comes as the Wizards attempt to build a competitive roster, having recently added Trae Young and selected AJ Dybantsa with the No. 1 overall draft pick. While the team could potentially offer a significant max extension, reports suggest such a deal is unlikely due to Davis's age and injury history.

Davis previously indicated a need to assess the organization's commitment to becoming a true contender before committing his long-term future to the franchise.
