Anthony Fauci records reveal concerns over military Ebola vaccine experiment

Newly released diary entries and internal communications from Dr. Anthony Fauci, obtained by Senator Rand Paul, reveal concerns regarding a 2015 military experiment involving aerosolized Ebola virus. The research, conducted by the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) at Fort Detrick, involved exposing non-human primates to aerosolized Ebola to test the efficacy of experimental vaccines.

Fauci’s records indicate that while the aerosolized virus killed nearly all the primates, autopsies showed that vaccinated animals suffered more severe lung damage—including necrosis, inflammation, and fibrin—than the unvaccinated control group. Fauci privately expressed frustration with the researchers, calling them 'idiots' and stating that the experiment 'never should have been done in the first place.'

Fauci also noted that the findings could potentially undermine public confidence in Ebola vaccination efforts in West Africa, specifically in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, where clinical trials were being planned. He argued that the results should have been classified to prevent diplomatic and public health fallout. The documents suggest the NIAID, which Fauci directed, provided funding for the research task order.
