Anthony Garotinho confronts Globo journalists during live interview

Anthony Garotinho, a Republicanos candidate for the Governor of Rio de Janeiro, engaged in a tense live confrontation with journalists Mariana Gross and Edimilson Ávila during a broadcast of RJ1 on Globo.

The dispute arose when the journalists questioned Garotinho regarding potential support from former governor Wilson Witzel, who was impeached in 2021. Garotinho reacted defensively, accusing the presenters of attempting a ‘pegadinha’ (prank) and stating that the question ‘makes no sense at all.’

During the exchange, Garotinho criticized the line of questioning, suggesting the journalists should focus on solutions rather than political alliances. He remarked, ‘This is a serious thing, Globo is a serious broadcaster, the population watching us wants candidates to show the truth,’ while disputing the direction of the interview.
