Anthony Gordon faces scrutiny at FC Barcelona

Anthony Gordon is facing scrutiny regarding his performance and personal outlook following his move to FC Barcelona. After joining the Catalan club from Newcastle United, the 25-year-old English international has experienced a mix of early success and recent struggles.

In a recent interview with El País, Gordon expressed feeling disconnected from the current generation of footballers, noting a preference for the values of the 1990s over modern social media obsession and materialism. He suggested a desire for a reading club within the squad but doubted his younger teammates would participate.

On the pitch, Gordon’s recent form has drawn criticism from Spanish media. Following Barcelona’s 3-1 victory over Sevilla, Mundo Deportivo described his performance as incomplete, noting a lack of the 'spark' required of a star player. Despite an initial period of high productivity, including four assists in his first four games, Gordon has struggled to find goal involvements in his most recent La Liga appearances.
