Anthony Hopkins releases first single as classical composer

At 88 years old, two-time Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins has released his first formal single as a composer, titled ‘Bracken Road’. The track is part of an upcoming orchestral album titled ‘Life is a Dream’, to be released by Decca Classics.

Hopkins has been composing music throughout his life, having started playing piano at age six and writing music for local theater during his adolescence. The new album features orchestral works written over the course of six decades.

The project was recorded this past April at London’s Alexandra Palace. It features the National Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Grammy-winning conductor Gustavo Dudamel. The repertoire is described as being inspired by Hopkins’ family, his Welsh roots, and his life experiences.
