Anthony Hopkins to release debut orchestral album ‘Life Is a Dream’

Actor Anthony Hopkins is releasing his debut album, ‘Life Is a Dream’, on August 21 via Decca Records. The collection features 12 compositions written over the course of six decades, inspired by his childhood in Wales and his life experiences.

Recorded at London’s Alexandra Palace in April, the album is performed by the Philharmonia Orchestra and conducted by Gustavo Dudamel. Hopkins, who began playing piano at age four, described music as his ‘first love’ and a ‘freewheeling kind of art form’ compared to the discipline of acting.

While Hopkins has previously composed scores for films such as ‘Shadowlands’, ‘August’, and ‘Slipstream’, this marks his first formal orchestral album release. The single ‘Bracken Road’ has already been released as part of the upcoming project.
