Anthony Hopkins to star in post-apocalyptic film ‘2048’

Actor Anthony Hopkins is set to star in the upcoming post-apocalyptic science fiction film ‘2048’, directed by Timothy Woodward Jr. This marks a reunion for the actor and director following their recent collaboration on the sci-fi-horror project ‘Eyes In The Trees’.

Set in a future where a dying planet has forced humanity into a vast subterranean society, the plot centers on an authoritarian regime known as the Collective. The regime maintains control by erasing memories of the surface world and utilizing surveillance and psychological terror. The story follows a worker named Wesley who joins a hidden resistance, eventually drawing the attention of Bryant, played by Hopkins. Bryant is described as the brilliant and ruthless architect of the Collective’s oppressive system.

The screenplay was written by Sean Ryan, and the film is being produced by Natalie Burn of Born To Burn Films and Volodymyr Artemenko of Eastern Film Investment. Hopkins noted that the project emerged from discussions regarding new scripts following his work with Woodward Jr., describing the story as a complex exploration of the contradictions within human nature.
