Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua fight negotiations stall over venue dispute

Negotiations for a heavyweight boxing match between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua remain stalled due to a dispute over the event's location. While organizers and financiers, including Saudi-based backers and Netflix, are reportedly pushing for a venue in the United States, such as Madison Square Garden in New York, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn is advocating for a UK-based setting.

Hearn has expressed a desire to host the bout at Wembley Stadium in London, even suggesting a late-night schedule to accommodate North American broadcast windows. London Mayor Sadiq Khan has also intervened, urging promoters to bring the fight to the capital to satisfy local fans. However, such a plan faces logistical hurdles, including noise curfews and transport challenges.

Tyson Fury has criticized Joshua’s camp, accusing him of being a ‘coward’ and suggesting a reluctance to fight. Fury maintains he is willing to fight in any location, including the US, Ireland, or the UK, provided the deal is finalized. If the matchup fails to materialize, Fury has indicated he may shift his focus to other opponents, including Oleksandr Usyk, Daniel Dubois, or Filip Hrgovic.
