Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua heavyweight clash depends on UK start‑time approval

Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh says the highly anticipated heavyweight bout between British fighters Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will only be held at Wembley Stadium if London authorities allow a start time that aligns with U.S. prime‑time television. Alalshikh has pledged to meet Mayor Sadiq Khan and other officials to seek an extension of the venue’s curfew so the main event could begin in the early hours of the morning (around 04:00 GMT). The fight, contracted to take place in the United Kingdom, is seen as the biggest British boxing event in years and could generate significant pay‑per‑view revenue.

Both fighters have tune‑up bouts scheduled for late July: Fury will face Mariusz Wach in Pattaya, Thailand on 24 July, and Joshua will meet Kristian Prenga in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on 25 July. Victory in those contests is expected to clear the way for the Fury‑Joshua showdown later in the year, likely in November. Promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed the bout must remain in the UK unless the contract is renegotiated, while Alalshikh stresses the timing issue is the only remaining obstacle.
