Anthony Mackie recalls Chris Evans sharing Captain America script

Actor Anthony Mackie has shared a personal anecdote regarding his transition into the role of Captain America within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In a recent interview, Mackie recalled a private moment with Chris Evans, the original actor for Steve Rogers, who shared the “Avengers: Endgame” script with him early.

Mackie described the experience as “really great and really emotional,” noting the significance of learning about the character's mantle passing from a friend. He expressed appreciation for Evans’ gesture, acknowledging the weight of taking over a role that Evans had defined for nearly a decade.

This transition was officially depicted in “Avengers: Endgame,” where Mackie’s character, Sam Wilson, received the iconic shield. Mackie is set to lead the character in the upcoming 2025 film, “Captain America: Brave New World.”
