Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Santander is set to begin a rehab assignment with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons on Wednesday. This marks his first game action since the previous postseason, following a season heavily impacted by injuries.

Santander underwent left shoulder surgery in February, an injury that sidelined him for several months. His recovery was briefly delayed by shoulder soreness requiring a cortisone shot, but he is now returning to play. The team plans to utilize him primarily as a corner outfielder to regain his timing before a potential return to the major league lineup.

Santander signed a five-year, $92.5 million contract with the Blue Jays in early 2025. His recent seasons have been hampered by physical setbacks, including shoulder inflammation and back stiffness, which limited his availability and performance.
