Anthony Taylor appointed as Turkish Football Federation elite referee director
The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) announced that former Premier League and FIFA‑appointed referee Anthony Taylor will serve as the Elite Referee Director of its Central Referee Committee (MHK). Taylor, who retired after the 2026 World Cup, brings more than two decades of experience, having officiated major tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup, UEFA European Championship, Champions League, Europa League, Nations League and the FIFA Club World Cup, as well as numerous English domestic finals.
In his new role, Taylor will oversee the technical development of top‑level Turkish referees, strengthen performance‑evaluation systems, design training programmes and improve match‑analysis and feedback processes in line with UEFA and FIFA standards. The TFF said his international expertise is expected to significantly boost the quality of Turkish refereeing.
The appointment marks a strategic partnership aimed at aligning Turkey’s referee standards with global best practices.
