Anthony Valencia joins Flamengo in 5 million euro deal

Flamengo has officially presented Ecuadorian forward Anthony Valencia as a new reinforcement for the season. The 23-year-old joins the Brazilian club from Royal Antwerp in Belgium in a deal valued at approximately 5 million euros for 100% of his rights, with the Belgian side retaining a 15% sell-on clause.

Valencia was brought in to replace Gonzalo Plata, who failed medical examinations for Dynamo Moscow. During his presentation at the Maracanã stadium, Valencia expressed his excitement, stating, “It is a dream to play here!” and noting that he did not hesitate to accept the opportunity to join such a large club.

Having developed at Independiente del Valle, Valencia recorded 13 goals and seven assists during his recent season in Belgium. His performance has also earned him a call-up to the Ecuador national team for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
