Anthrax releases Cursum Perficio, first album in a decade
Thrash metal band Anthrax has released Cursum Perficio, their 12th studio album and first new material in ten years. The album title, which translates to “My journey has come to an end” in Latin, follows a decade-long gap caused by the global pandemic and other creative delays.
The release features a lineup consisting of Scott Ian, Jonathan Donais, Charlie Benante, Frank Bello, and Joey Belladonna. The record includes eleven tracks, beginning with the progressive instrumental “Persistence of Memory” and featuring singles such as “It’s For the Kids” and “Everybody’s Got A Plan.”
Critics note that the album maintains the band's reputation for high energy and riff-driven detail, blending old-school metal styles with a modern edge. While the band members are now in their 60s, the new material is described as a purposeful step up in songwriting that builds upon their previous works, “For All Kings” and “Worship Music.”
