Anthropic abandons $6 billion acquisition of Decart AI

Anthropic has decided not to proceed with the acquisition of Israeli AI startup Decart AI, despite completing the necessary due diligence process. While discussions had previously centered around a deal valued at approximately $6 billion, the companies have not signed an agreement. Sources indicate that the two entities may instead explore alternative forms of collaboration.

Decart AI, founded in 2023, specializes in software designed to improve chip efficiency for training and running AI models, and also develops real-time world models such as Lucy and Oasis. The startup has previously raised approximately $450 million in funding, including a round involving Nvidia.

This decision comes as Anthropic aggressively expands its computational capacity through other means. The company has reportedly signed a $35 billion, six-year cloud computing agreement with Lambda, an Nvidia-backed provider, to support its Claude models. Additionally, Anthropic has engaged in efforts to secure specialized hardware capacity, including a reported $7 billion deal involving the chip venture MatX.
