Anthropic and Google adjust AI model API pricing

Anthropic has introduced new pricing for its Claude Opus 5.5 model, setting input rates at $4 and output rates at $20 per million tokens. While the unit price is 20% lower than its predecessor, Anthropic estimates that typical workloads could see savings of up to 40% compared to Claude Opus 5.

Google's Gemini 4 Argon model is also seeing pricing adjustments. Currently offered at introductory rates of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, these fees are scheduled to increase to $4 and $20, respectively, on December 1.

Users of Gemini 4 Argon should note that the model's reasoning process is included in the billing. Because the model performs internal thinking before responding, these thinking tokens are billed at the standard output rate, which can significantly increase the cost of short responses.
