Anthropic launches Claude Duet AI agent for businesses

Anthropic has introduced Claude Duet, a proactive AI agent designed for professionals and small business owners. The tool operates on the Claude Opus 5.5 model and is available as a research preview via waitlist for Claude Pro and Max subscribers in the United States.

Unlike traditional chatbots, Claude Duet functions as a digital colleague that can execute tasks in the background. It utilizes a cloud-based virtual machine with its own integrated browser, allowing it to continue working even when the user's computer or smartphone is turned off. The agent can perform various administrative and complex tasks, such as coordinating meetings, building data dashboards, preparing financial projections, and developing web application prototypes.

The system integrates with over 6,000 connectors and plugins through the Claude Marketplace, including platforms like Gmail, Slack, QuickBooks, Stripe, Gusto, LinkedIn, Canva, HubSpot, DocuSign, and Shopify. To ensure security, Anthropic implemented a new classifier to reject requests involving sensitive data like credit card numbers or government IDs. While the agent can process business purchases via Stripe Link, it is strictly prohibited from trading securities or moving money between accounts. Furthermore, the agent requires explicit user approval before performing sensitive actions such as making payments, signing documents, or deleting data.
