Anthropic Claude integrates with Gmail for email management

Anthropic’s AI chatbot, Claude, has introduced a new integration that allows it to interact directly with Gmail accounts. Users can now connect Claude to their Google accounts to search for, read, draft, and send or forward emails using plain language commands.

While the tool offers significant time-saving potential for managing inboxes and organizing threads, it introduces notable security and privacy concerns. Potential risks include AI-generated errors, such as sending incorrect information, privacy breaches involving sensitive personal or professional data, and vulnerabilities to malicious prompt injections.

To mitigate these risks, users are advised to utilize approval settings. By default, Claude requires permission before sending any email, but users have the option to adjust these permissions. Experts recommend keeping manual validation active and using multi-factor authentication (MFA) on sensitive accounts to maintain control over the automated process.
