Anthropic employees predict Nobel Prize-level AI breakthroughs by 2030

A new report from Anthropic, titled ‘AI Expectation Gap’, reveals a significant divergence in perceptions regarding the future of artificial intelligence. According to the survey, 91% of Anthropic employees believe AI will be capable of making Nobel Prize-level scientific discoveries by 2030. In contrast, only 39% of surveyed U.S. adults shared this optimistic outlook.

The report also highlighted differences in expectations regarding job automation. More than half of Anthropic employees anticipate that AI will be able to perform at least 80% of their current job functions by 2030, whereas only 5% of American workers expressed a similar view.

Anthropic researchers suggested that the gap in expectations may stem from employees being closer to the front lines of AI development. The company noted that these responses represent personal expectations rather than official technical forecasts or business plans.
