Anthropic expands Claude AI capabilities to Gmail and Google Drive

Anthropic has expanded the capabilities of its AI, Claude, allowing it to act as an agent within Google services. For users on paid Claude plans, the AI can now draft and send emails directly through Gmail based on user requests. Claude can search through existing correspondence to maintain context, draft responses, and forward messages.

In addition to email, Anthropic has extended Claude’s access to Google Drive. This allows the AI to find and manage documents and files, enabling workflows where the AI can retrieve information from a Drive document to inform a response in Gmail. While the AI can perform these actions, Anthropic notes that approval is required before sending by default, though administrators on Team and Enterprise accounts can adjust these settings.
