Anthropic launches Claude for Teachers and invests $10 million in Canadian AI research

Anthropic announced the free launch of Claude for Teachers, a premium AI assistant for verified K‑12 educators in the United States. The service provides full Claude capabilities, including Claude Code and Cowork, a library of teaching skills and direct access to curriculum standards for all 50 states. Anthropic says it will not use teachers’ data to train its models and has partnered with the American Federation of Teachers on privacy standards. Integrations with platforms such as Canva Education, MagicSchool and ASSISTments allow automated lesson planning, differentiated materials and routine data analysis. A pilot program will evaluate the tool’s impact on educator well‑being in Detroit public schools.

On the same day the company committed CAD 10 million to Canadian AI research, partnering with the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute, Mila, the Vector Institute and several hospitals and universities. The funding provides Claude credits and supports the Anthropic for Startups programme, extending resources to Canadian startups. Additionally, Anthropic welcomed London‑based AI growth studio Marllm into its Claude Partner Network, marking a new UK partnership as the company nears £1 million in annual revenue.

These initiatives broaden Anthropic’s presence in education, research and enterprise AI across North America and Europe.
