Anthropic eyes historic $2 trillion IPO following rapid revenue growth

Anthropic is preparing for a potential initial public offering (IPO) that could become the largest in history. Following a confidential filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission in June 2026, investors are reportedly eyeing a valuation between $2 trillion and $3 trillion, potentially surpassing SpaceX's record-setting debut.

The company's financial trajectory shows rapid growth, with an annualized revenue run rate of $47 billion reported in May 2026. This marks a significant increase from approximately $9 billion at the end of 2025. Some market analysts project that annualized revenue could reach between $100 billion and $120 billion by the end of 2026, driven largely by the success of Claude Code, an agentic coding tool that reached $8 billion in annualized revenue by May 2026.

Despite the optimistic outlook, challenges remain. Operating costs for Anthropic's models are reportedly 2.5 times higher than those of competitors like OpenAI. Additionally, some reports suggest a slowdown in revenue growth occurred in June, and the company faces high infrastructure and data center expenses as it scales.
