Anthropic files for IPO aiming to challenge SpaceX record
Anthropic has reportedly filed confidential paperwork for an initial public offering (IPO) and aims to potentially match or exceed the capital raised by SpaceX. Investors are reportedly targeting a valuation of $2 trillion or more for the company. If successful, Anthropic could set a new record for capital raised, surpassing SpaceX’s total of $86.2 billion, which included its overallotment option.
Historically, the largest IPO was held by Saudi Aramco, which raised $25.6 billion in 2019. SpaceX significantly disrupted this record in June 2026 by raising $75 billion initially, reaching a market capitalization of approximately $2.1 trillion after its first day of trading. While large IPOs have historically seen varied long-term performance, tech and financial sectors have generally outperformed energy and telecommunications sectors.
