Anthropic finance team leads AI-driven automation in corporate reporting

Executives across large corporations are caught in an "AI mania" that discourages dissent and fuels exaggerated productivity claims. Within this context, Anthropic's chief financial officer Krishna Rao disclosed that the company's finance division, particularly its head of tax, is the heaviest internal user of the Claude AI model. The team runs between 70 and 150 custom Claude "skills" that automate document‑heavy tasks such as statutory financial statements and tax analyses. These AI‑generated reports, which previously required several hours of manual work, are now produced in roughly 30 minutes, with human review layered on top to catch any possible inaccuracies.

Rao noted that finance professionals' deep domain knowledge makes them well‑suited to build and monitor these workflows, highlighting a broader trend of enterprise AI adoption beyond engineering teams and underscoring the operational efficiencies and risks associated with such internal AI use.
