Anthropic expands Claude Cowork AI agent to mobile, web and cloud

Anthropic announced that its Claude Cowork AI‑agent is moving from a desktop‑only tool to a cloud‑based service available on web browsers and iOS/Android devices. Beta access begins with subscribers to the Max plan and will roll out to other paid tiers in the coming weeks. The update lets users start a multi‑step task on a computer, then monitor its progress or approve decisions from a phone, and tasks continue running in the cloud even when the laptop is closed. Chat and Cowork are unified into a single interface on desktop and web, while the desktop app remains required for access to local files. Anthropic shared usage data showing more than 90 % of Cowork sessions involve general knowledge work rather than coding, with 33.4 % dedicated to business‑process operations and 16.4 % to content creation. To promote the launch, usage limits are doubled through early August.
