Anthropic launches Claude Science AI platform for drug research

Anthropic unveiled Claude Science, an AI‑driven research workbench that unifies more than 60 scientific databases, coding tools, high‑performance computing and workflow management into a single, natural‑language interface. The platform lets researchers analyse literature, generate 3D protein structures, create genome‑browser tracks and chemistry drawings, and trace every result back to the original code and environment. Early beta testers reported substantial efficiency gains.

At the same briefing, Anthropic announced it will run its own pre‑clinical drug programmes focused on neglected and rare diseases. The company is hiring biologists and building wet‑labs to develop orphan drugs, aiming to address conditions that traditional pharma deems unprofitable. Head of life sciences Eric Kauderer‑Abrams said the initiative targets areas with real disease burden despite limited commercial appeal.
