Anthropic launches Claude Tag AI teammate for Slack collaboration

Anthropic introduced Claude Tag, an AI teammate that can be invoked in Slack by tagging @Claude. Launched on June 23 for Claude Enterprise and Team customers, the feature runs on Claude Opus 4.8 and replaces the older Claude‑in‑Slack app, which will retire on August 3. When tagged, Claude takes on tasks, works asynchronously, and posts updates in the same thread, allowing all channel members to see its progress and results. The tool builds shared memory from channel discussions, offers admin‑controlled data access, usage dashboards, and audit capabilities, and bills usage at the organization level with trial credits of $25,000 for Enterprise and $2,500 for Team plans.

Anthropic plans to extend Claude Tag to Microsoft Teams, email, and other project tools, positioning it as a cross‑platform AI worker. Company leaders highlighted the shift from individual chat prompts to collaborative AI workflows, with Cat Wu noting the “powerful” form‑factor of tagging a teammate and Slack EVP Rob Seaman describing Slack as “the only layer in the AI stack where teams work together.”
